This stretch of coastline in Hampshire sits between Stubbington and Lee-on-the-Solent, where the shingle beach curves along the Solent’s edge. The area draws locals for daily routines and newcomers keen on seaside days out.

Expect pebbles underfoot rather than soft sand, which makes it sturdy for strolling even in brisk weather. The views stretch across to the Isle of Wight, with ferries and container ships passing regularly on one of Europe’s busiest sea routes.

Water sports thrive here. Kite surfers launch from the beach when winds pick up, their sails dotting the skyline. Windsurfing and paddle boarding are common too, thanks to the sheltered waters. Swimming works well at high tide, though check conditions – currents can shift quickly near the harbour.

A small harbour at Hill Head offers slips for launching dinghies or kayaks, and the nearby sailing club hosts events. For land-based pursuits, a paved promenade runs eastward towards Lee-on-the-Solent, ideal for cycling or pushing buggies.

Head west to Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve for birdwatching – Brent geese and waders flock in winter.

Facilities keep things practical. Pay-and-display parking sits right by the beach, with toilets and a playground nearby. The Shack cafe serves hot drinks and snacks from a beachside spot – grab a coffee and watch the tide roll in. Dogs are welcome year-round, but leads are required in summer near the nature reserve.

For longer outings, try the 4.2-mile trail to Browndown Camp Fields, a flat route with sea views and cliff glimpses. Public transport links from Gosport or Fareham make it accessible without a car.
