Seafire Taproom
Seafire Taproom occupies 126 High Street, in the heart of Lee-on-the-Solent’s shopping strip. Positioned between cafes and independents, it overlooks the Solent from nearby benches outside. The blue-fronted former shop now features reclaimed wood panels, string lights, and aviation nods to the Seafire fighter plane, tying into local history.
Open Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 10pm, Friday and Saturday noon to 11pm, and Sunday noon to 9pm. Ten keg lines rotate through south coast breweries like Powder Monkey or Makemake, with up to two cask options. Pints start around £5, halves at £2.50, with low-alcohol choices for lighter sessions.
No full kitchen, but bar snacks like pork scratchings come from the butcher opposite, and events bring in vans for Greek gyros or Rico’s Caribbean bites. Dog owners appreciate the welcome for pets, and outdoor seating catches the sea breeze on fine days.
Owners Chris Clark and Ken Norish launched it in April 2023 after revamping the space, aiming for a community hub. Regulars pop in for after-work catch-ups, while visitors pair it with beach strolls or the hovercraft museum nearby.
Events run weekly: think live duos on Fridays, markets on Saturdays, or Oktoberfest specials with steins and pretzels. Groups can book tables for tastings, and it’s family-friendly until evening. The compact interior seats about 20, expanding outside in summer.
For newcomers, sample flights highlight hazy IPAs or creamy sours; staff chat through options without pressure.
Locals often combine visits with high street errands, grabbing a quick half before heading home. Private hires suit small parties, with flexibility for themes. The taproom grew from a passion project, now a staple for craft enthusiasts in the area.
